A textbook beginner cube: mild, clean, and predictable, grown from wild mushrooms collected near Cambodian temples. Around 0.6%, on the softer side of average, energetic rather than heavy.

Death Star

Another soft first pick, golden-capped and slow to build (no Star Wars link, sorry). Sits near 0.7%, a gentle, baseline-level cube, with calm, introspective trips.

Golden Teacher

The strain every guide points beginners to. Gentle, clear-headed, and hard to get wrong, with slow visuals and more headspace than fireworks. Lab tests put it around 0.8% total tryptamines, right on the cubensis average.

African Pyramid

Also sold as Transkei, the one cubensis native to South Africa, with sharp triangular caps and a body-forward buzz. Our single lab sample read 0.92%, so treat that as one data point.

Alc Squats

The Alacabenzi mutation, sometimes called the sativa of mushrooms: warm, energetic, more body than visual. Lands near 0.68%, with strength between Golden Teacher and Penis Envy.

Amazonian

Big fruits, vivid visuals, and a pronounced body high. At about 1.36% total tryptamines it is one of the stronger moderates here, even-tempered rather than overwhelming.

Chodewave

A rare collector strain that looks the part but tests quietly, around 0.41% in Cup samples. Do not mix it up with the far stronger Albino Chodewave.

Enigma

Rare and prized, a non-sporulating blob with no cap or gills. Worth knowing: its lab average is about 0.88%, near baseline, not the 4x figure the internet repeats (that number belongs to its parent, Tidal Wave). Buy it for the rarity, dose it like a standard strain.

Hillbilly

The one that makes people laugh. A Hyphae Cup microdose winner that tested low and even, around 0.5%, which is exactly what makes it a great small-dose strain rather than a heroic one.

Jedi Mind Fuck

The name oversells it. Lab work puts JMF at a medium 0.54%, so despite the reputation it suits beginners and veterans alike, with long, colourful visuals.

Malabar

An Indian strain that throws giant fruits and bright visuals, with use traced back roughly to 1500 BC. Tests around 1.14%, over average yet gentle enough for near-beginners.

Mexicana

Not a cubensis at all, but Psilocybe mexicana, the historic mushroom behind the first Western psilocybin research. Light on the body, moderate in strength, and a museum piece in the best way.

Texas Yellow

A 1990s Texas isolate with bright yellow caps and a smooth, grinning euphoria. A peer-reviewed study measured it near 1.1% combined psilocybin and psilocin, so it is a real moderate, not a beginner featherweight.

Melmac

A Penis Envy mutation with gnarled golden caps and a potency that shifts with the grow. Averages about 0.98%, so weigh carefully and treat each batch as its own thing.

Penis Envy

The famous strong one: dense, potent, intensely psychedelic, and not a first-timer strain. Runs well above the average cube, near 1.5%, so the 2.9% quoted online is a record sample rather than your bag.

Tidal Wave

A Penis Envy and B+ hybrid, clear and euphoric, with recognisable wavy caps. Its everyday average is around 1.17%. The famous 3.82% you have read about was one record-setting sample, not what lands in your bag.

Trinity

A three-way hybrid of Aztec God, Penis Envy, and Tidal Wave, built for smooth visuals and mental clarity. Its potent lineage puts it near 1.3%, firmly in strong territory.

White Rabbit

Albino Penis Envy crossed with Moby Dick, pale and leucistic, with light body and intense colour. Its Albino Penis Envy parentage points to roughly 1.5%, so treat it as a strong strain.

Yeti

Large, ghost-white fruits with vivid audiovisuals, isolated from True Albino Teacher. Cup samples average about 1.14%, a notch above a typical cube.

Albino Penis Envy

Penis Envy’s albino cousin, thick white stems and small caps, every bit as heavy. Its 1.10% average is one of the most reliable figures we have, from 32 lab samples. Experienced users only.

Blue Meanies

The strongest thing on this page, and the only Panaeolus cyanescens rather than a cubensis. Two to three times a typical cube, psilocin-heavy, and strictly expert territory. Dose it against its high end, not its low.

How to choose a strain

The real difference between strains is potency, not some special flavour of trip, and reputation does not always match the lab. We sort every strain into four tiers you can filter by. Gentle strains (Golden Teacher, Cambodian, Death Star) are forgiving and predictable, the standard first pick. Moderate strains (Amazonian, Malabar, Enigma) step it up. Strong strains (Penis Envy, Tidal Wave, Melmac) run above the average cube and suit people who already know how they respond. Very Strong is a short list led by Blue Meanies, a Panaeolus that hits two to three times harder. Start gentle, and read the potency note before anything stronger.

How dried magic mushrooms are dosed

Dried mushrooms are dosed by weight, in grams. Rough guideposts:
